Meet Mrs. Brandt

I am truly honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the Highland Park community and Hyer Elementary family.  I am looking forward to working with students, colleagues, and parents as we embark on a new school year.

I am a Hyer graduate and a HPISD class of 2000 graduate.  I went to Stephen F. Austin State University, where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.  Then got my master's in Educational Technology Leadership in August of 2021 from Texas A&M Commerce.  I previously taught preschool for three years and was a substitute teacher at Hyer.  Then five years ago I started as the 1st grade Instructional Assistant and then moved to be the Kindergarten Instructional Assistant, where I spent time as a kindergarten teacher for the beginning of the year and then moved to teach the Fundamentals class.  For the 2019-2020 school year I worked with the wonderful kindergartners again, until 2 weeks before Spring Break when I moved to take over a 3rd grade class for the remainder of the year.  Then last year I taught 3rd grade.  Now, as I start my 8th year, I will be teaching kindergarten and I am looking forward to a great year.

I have two children who both went to Hyer and they loved being a Husky but have now moved on to HPHS, where they are 9th and 10th graders.  I spend most of my weekends at some sports field, Friday night football games watching my kids play in the band, and enjoy hanging out with my family.
