G'day! I am Mrs. Meck and I can't wait to partner with you Deep in the Heart of Second Grade at Hyer this year!
I am very excited to be starting my eighth year teaching at Hyer. I began my time at Hyer in second grade, then had five fabulous years in kindergarten and returned to second grade last year. I love working with this amazing second grade team, and am looking forward to working another great team of Hyer families.
My family is a true Hyer family - both my daughters (Samantha, who is about to start at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), and Elsa who is now a senior at HPHS) graduated from Hyer, so I know just how special this school is.
We did not start out in Dallas, however. I am from Australia, and have lived and taught in Australia (Adelaide and Brisbane), Tokyo (Japanese is my second language) and Southern California, where my husband is from. I received my undergraduate degree from The University of Queensland, and my masters degree from Queensland University of Technology.
When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy traveling, running, and reading.
I know we are going to have a great year of learning and Boot Scootin' fun together!
