Hyer is a nationally recognized "Blue Ribbon School," an award which is given by the U.S. Department of Education.

Hyer is a state recognized Exemplary school and has been named such since the rating system's existence.

Hyer has been named to the “Just for the Kids” Honor Roll for the eighth year in a row. The award is given by the Texas Business and Education Coalition. Of more than 8,000 Texas public schools, less than 4% are honored each year. This honor recognizes schools that have demonstrated three years of consistent, high performance in all subjects compared to other schools serving similar student populations.
