Welcome Letter

Welcome to fourth grade! I’m sure summer has flown by for you and it’s hard to believe that Thursday we come back to school.  I am looking forward to a fantastic year of learning with you.  We’ll be spending time next week settling in and becoming a learning community, but before then I’m going to ask you to do a little homework so that we are ready on the first day. I would like for you to collect the following items for tomorrow.

  1. A healthful snack and water bottle.  We have a long morning (lunch is at 12:15), so we will have a snack around 9:30.
  1. Your favorite book.  This can be any book that you love.  Please be prepared to share with your classmates why it’s your favorite book.
  1. A book to read in class.  If you’re in the middle of a book right now, bring that, or bring one you’d like to read.
  2. A sense of wonder and curiosity.  What have you always wanted to learn?  What makes you ask questions? This year we’ll be working on research and following our wonders and interests.

I know it’s going to be a great year! I can’t wait to get to know you and share stories with you.  We’ll be starting right away on Thursday!  Enjoy this evening,  and I’ll see you at 7:50 on Thursday Morning!
