Welcome Letter

Welcome to fourth grade! I’m sure summer has flown by for you and it’s hard to believe that Monday we come back to school.  I am looking forward to a fantastic year of learning with you.  We’ll be spending time next week settling in and becoming a learning community, but before then I’m going to ask you to do a little homework so that we are ready on the first day.  Mainly, (and most importantly), enjoy the weekend, but if you would collect the following items for Monday, that would be terrific!

  1. A healthful snack and water bottle.  We have a long morning (lunch is at 12:30), so we will have a snack around 10:00.

  1. Your favorite book.  This can be any book that you love.  Please be prepared to share with your classmates why it’s your favorite book.

  1. A book to read in class.  If you’re in the middle of a book right now, bring that, or bring one you’d like to read.

  1. A sense of wonder and curiosity.  What have you always wanted to learn?  What makes you ask questions? This year we’ll be working on research and following our wonders and interests.
  2. A picture that represents HOME to you.  It can be a photograph, a cut out from a magazine, or an image from the computer.  Please have it ready to share on Monday.

I know it’s going to be a great year! I can’t wait to get to know you and share stories with you.  We’ll be starting right away on Monday!  Enjoy the weekend, and I’ll see you at 7:50 on Monday Morning!
